Sissy/Sicily – So, HOD kind of specializes in the ‘undercat’, those kitties that will have a harder time of being adopted out. Our beloved Sicily falls into this category. Sicily has had a run of not great luck, her person died, and no one in the family could take her, so she was left outside where the neighborhood fed her for about 2 years, when she was picked up by MCAS and from there she came to HOD. Poor baby girl! She is a little bit older, and not yet cuddly, BUT - there are different kinds of cat people. The kind of cat person that I love the most are the ones who go to adopt and say – who needs a home? Who needs me? Sicily needs you. She needs to learn to trust again. That her person will be there, and that she will be safe and loved, and that she didn’t do anything wrong for them to leave…. We discovered just this week that she LOVES catnip, and to play with balls! Seeing her play and pounce and fling a toy in the air literally made me cry. Her birthday is 8/2/11. She’s not very big, but declined to be weighed at the last weigh in.
